"Where has the heat in my relationship gone? Why doesn't the attraction last? Why do we argue over the silliest things? And why are we still together?"

If this train of thought sounds familiar, this audiobook is for you. Best-selling author Philip Van Munching and psychotherapist Dr. Bernie Katz have teamed up for a fascinating look at the psychological forces that shape our relationships.

Even early childhood experiences can eventually dictate our love choices, creating elements in our personalities that both attract and repel our partners. Here are the tools to help you evaluate your relationships, recognize roadblocks, repair damage, and even decide whether a relationship is simply beyond help. Incorporating personal anecdotes and expressed in a conversational tone, this is a funny, warm, accessible relationship book.

Great book; really enjoyed listening to it; definitely related "my problems/dysfunction" to their cause. Definitely a good read for those who like to be introspective about their lives.

Insightful

Philip Munching and Dr. Bernie Katz have a winner in "Actually, It Is Your Parents' Fault." In this enlightening volume, they explain the relationship between the development of our personalities and our adult decision making. They make application to the dynamics available in marriage, but the material in the book can be applied to every avenue of life and living with others.

This book will help the novice understand the source of our personalities, how they determine our behavioral needs as we mature, and how they hinder and help our relationships with others along the way. Well written, clearly developed, and wonderfully read, this book will be useful to everyone wishing to improve their relationships with others.

An "A Ha" Book

This book was awful! I was hoping for something insightful... but got 6 hours of pure, unadulterated Freudianism. Sure they call it "psychodynamics" now, but it's still the same pseudoscientific nonsense. This book will ask you to keep and interpret dream diaries, take Freudian slips as revealing great internal truths, and insist that everything you do in life is driven by your Unconscious. Literally, this book is about interpreting your dreams to figure out what you suppressed into your unconscious as a child, and how those suppressed memories are destroying your relationships.

If you believe in Freud, you might enjoy this book. Otherwise, seriously, look elsewhere.
