One moment, everything was normal. Then the World Core woke up and slaughtered almost everything alive so it could harvest their Chi.

After that, it rebuilt everything and put the survivors in a game-like environment, pitting them against monsters and each other.

The rules are different now. Chi power is as important as being able to fight.

I'm one of the survivors. With my knowledge of martial arts and my special Chi skill, I'm turning myself into a force to be reckoned with.

And the women I meet along the way?

Let's just say there's more than one advantage to joining my party.

This is a western cultivation fantasy adventure that includes a definite sense of progression and Gamelit/LitRPG elements. It contains the complete trilogy.

I’m not usually one for such detailed sex scenes and that remains true for this story. I wouldn’t have gotten this book if I’d known about them. I like romance in my stories but I usually prefer when they just cut to the next day after implying the sex. There was a few times where it seemed like that would happen and the chapter ends but then the entire next chapter is a guide on how to make a prostitute blush. I’m not a prude or anything it just takes me out of the story when he starts narrating every detailed second of how his throbbing member is opening her dripping beef curtains. There are many scenes and they go on for way longer than I’d like but I understand I am not the main target audience for those. I sat through a few to make sure that nothing important was sprinkled between positions but usually skipping them works fine for me and I have never felt like I missed anything.

All that being said I thought the premise was interesting though the game mechanics seemed hamfisted in at times early on. It held my interest while listening during my work day but didn’t draw me back while at home like other stories might have and that is usually how I distinguish an average story from a good one.

Voice performances were very good I think they nailed exactly what the author was going for even if I thought the writing was cringey at times.

Overall I would not recommend this to my acquaintances but might recommend it to my close friends if I thought they’d like it. I can see myself forgetting all about this story in a few months.

Wouldn’t have bought if I knew but stayed for the whole ride anyways

Another great series by Jack Porter. You will not be disappointed. Also the dual narration really brings the story to life. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

5 stars

like I said the pacing was good, there was more than a few cringe moments for me tho so I can give it a full 5 stars. I did enjoy the story overall and would recommend it to anyone looking for something mildly spicy with decent cultivation style lit rpg elements.

overall the pacing was good, and it finished the story unlike most.

it's an okay premise. The sex scenes are awkward. I wish it was just the story and not so frickin horny

Iffy but okay

Very enjoyable. First with the good: the book is very unique. I love the leveling system with the cores and the unique skills that everyone unlocks. The scaling is done very well and the enemies always seem like real threats. The characters are also well written. Most of the characters (even the evil ones) are good additions to the story.

Now the bad. My biggest complaint is his dog, Humphrey. He’s constantly misbehaving and causing problems. Now I love dogs but he lets his dog do whatever it wants and justified it with “that’s just him being him”. That’s not good reasoning. The only other complaint would be that the sex scenes don’t have very much detail. Other then that they’re timed well and diverse.

Overall I really enjoyed this book. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

Great with a few flaws
