Love this twist on a classic 80s movie

At first I was like umm I don’t think I’m going to like the MMC I’m not into crude alphaholes but Wren grew on me. The author did a great job developing his character and I love that the FMC Poppy didn’t have to change for him to fall for her. She also wasn’t tasked with changing him she simply allowed him to be his true self. Such a great story. The narrators did a great job. I can’t wait for the rest of the series.

Fun Story - Not so fun narration

I loved Ren/Hootie and Rutledge/Poppy. Community service brings them together, but it isn't their first time meeting or spending time together. Super jock and playboy Ren doesn't want to do the service and makes a deal with Poppy. Growing feeling denied get in the way and their road to love begins.

Narration issues
Lance Greenfield - He sounded like a used car salesman. I get he's supposed to be an entitled, over the top rich athlete but the voice he chose for Ren was a failure. His coach Stiles voice is better sounding than Ren. I've enjoyed other books he has narrated and was excited to hear him on this one but was sorely disappointed.

Hootie and Ren are fantastic together

This is my go-to series regardless of how I’m feeling. I’ve been reading and loving Xavier Neal’s books for many years and yes, I purchased the book and the audiobook. It’s worth every penny.

Very good storyline

i loved the story line and the male narrator. The female narrator was somewhat monotone with hardly any emotion. Great story nonetheless.

Too aggressive

The characters are immature, more high school level than college.
The girl accepts too much abuse from the guy. She kind of wants to force forgiveness on him, while he doesn’t care. Somehow, it feels like she gives too much, to get very little. He is controlling and verbally aggressive and she just goes along with it.
This book is among those with the most aggressive language. It seemed gratuitous to me, having the male protagonist swearing in almost every sentence. Coupled with the very aggressive style of the male narrator, the guy is simply unpleasant.
The female narrator mispronounces words and sometimes seems to be speaking with the mouth full, but has a good voice.
