Dawn of the Morning is the story of a young woman coming of age in the early 1800s. Having never known a loving home, she is sent away to school by her hard and unfeeling father and stepmother, and a marriage is arranged for her to a man she dislikes and fears. Through quite unexpected circumstances, on her wedding day...well...that would be telling.

Grace Livingston is one of my favorite authors and this book was another great one. Dawn was super naive even for the time period but I noticed that the character was along the line of the main characters of some of her other books. The narrator was great although I think she missed the mark a few times during the book. Overall great book.

Another great one from GLH

This book has a Jane Austen flavor; it's almost poetic. The story keeps you engrossed until the very last page. The thing I loved most about this book is how different it is from today's inspirational stories. This is a book of real substance and the vivid details make you feel like you're actually part of the story. The narrator tells the story almost with a sense of reverence, which makes the reader listen with a sense of reverence. This title will be in my top 10 favorite of all time. I highly recommend this book!

Pretty good for a book written in 1911. I enjoyed hearing the lexicon of the time. The reader was a bit syrupy...... no humor or sex ..... a sweet boy gets girl, boy looses girl, boy gets girl story.

I wanted to like this story. I usually enjoy GLH stories. 4 hours in an I’m frustrated. There’s usually a little melodramatics in her stories, but this one is too much. Everything is such a stretch. The heroine?went from having backbone to none. There’s no explanation for why she fears her fiancé (although he is a scoundrel ). This story drags on and on at the wedding day of the arranged marriage the bride doesn’t want. Spoiler: she doesn’t even notice the different groom (this was supposed to be the girl who was top of her class). Mid way into the story she seems to lose her brain. I usually read GLH because I enjoy how the characters show reliance upon God’s grace in difficulties. This lacks even that. The narrator was ho-hum. This Cinderella story is a flop. Waste of a credit.

Disappointing
