Janet MacPhail, the main character of the work, is made eminently relatable by the performance of actor Erin Mallon, whose charming reading makes it easy to root for the heroine of this engaging audiobook. Mallon guides listeners deftly through Janet’s life, from the concerns of tending to her ailing mother, to a budding romance with a handsome dog handler, and right through to a murder case in which Janet may be a suspected killer...or even the next one killed.

I was not able to guess the guilty person in this mystery. Lots of characters and clues, I was surprised by the ending.

Janet is one of the most relatable characters in a cozy mystery that I have read in a long while. Her multiple challenges and mysteries were believable. The narrator was excellent. Good story.

This was an okay story. It was probably a little too long, a little too descriptive for me. I like my books to move a little faster. Just a preference. I am a dog lover. I did like the interaction between the main character and her dog. The mystery part was okay, again not very compelling of a mystery though.
