An outbreak of kleptomania at a student hostel is not normally the sort of crime that arouses Hercule Poirot's interest. However, the warden of the hostel is his secretary, Miss Lemon's sister, and efficient Miss Lemon is less than efficient when worried. To set her mind at ease, and decrease the number of mistakes in her typing, he agrees to meet with Mrs. Hubbard.

When he sees the bizarre list of stolen and vandalized items - including a stethoscope, a box of chocolates, a slashed rucksack, and a diamond ring (which was stolen, then discovered in a bowl of soup) - he congratulates Mrs. Hubbard on a "unique and beautiful problem". But Poirot soon has more than a possible petty thief on his hands when murder enters the picture.

Once again, another great story from the great crime mystery writer Agatha Christie. Hugh Fraser once again does a great performance.

The great Hugh Fraser

Another delightful murder mystery from the beloved Agatha! A little predictable perhaps but still very well done!

And now the students!

If I had one scintilla of AC’s brilliance, my life would have unfolded rather differently. Lusciously complex plot and subplots. Wry comic relief. And, perhaps best of all: narrated by the inimitable Hugh Fraser, Captain Hastings of the UK ITV production of the beloved Poirot TV series. One to read and reread.

Another ingenious Agatha Christie mystery

Classic Christie with excellent narration. This was a pretty easy listen. Not too many twists but the story unfolds well. It is fun to see a little more of Miss Lemon

Great narration

This is hands down Agatha Christi best Hercule mystery! It is more inventive than usual, she laid plenty of clues and has her tell tale twists but at the same time it took many characters to effectively reveal the truth… not just Hercule. My favorite of this series!

Agatha Christi’s best Hercule!
