Facing a global alien invasion, mankind is anything but united against a common foe. The aquatic aliens, vicious bioengineered killing machines, have pressed the United States on both coasts. In Manhattan, a new bioweapon has done considerable damage to the invaders, but it has also affected the human troops. Worse, the man behind the US's war effort has gone missing and is presumed dead.

In Los Angeles, a new offensive is planned-one that depends on the skills of the ASHUR pilots fighting there, including two fresh out of training. One is a battle-hardened teenager convinced she knows best while the other is a veteran trying to shake the stigma of a horrific decision. In the Carolinas, a new offensive tests a tank commander struggling with the loss of his best friend and gunner. Orbiting Earth, a crippled weapons platform is dying, forcing the surviving crew to take extraordinary gambles in the icy depths of space.

Political players are twisting facts to obtain and hold on to power as battles rage against a relentless alien specter. Is the second year of the war going to be one of more losses, or can the enemy threat be pushed into the eye of the storm?

The ending of this book is both satisfying and has a good cliff hanger for the next season for the next set of books. This is definitely a character arc driven, which is nice. I'm looking forward to the next development.

Excellent end to a season.

I loved and like how over the past couple of books all the plot lines from those coming together. Caine, Slade, and many others to name are my favorite characters in this series.

everything in this story is a master stroke of writing

I find reviews hard to be spoiler free yet pertinent, but to misappropriate a quote from one of my favorite westerns I shall "endeavor to persevere" . The Land &Sea story is pretty intense, its got a wide range of emotional and technical ground it covers. From yet undiscovered alien intent to political intrigues of all types of intensity and human nature's intrinsic strengths and frailty. It's Scify, Military action, and its fun. The best part is the connectivity from characters actions and intent from book 1 all through out the series. this book is no exception. It ties up many connections along previous plot lines and creates new ones for future enjoyment to anticipate. Many of those, the reader will not see coming, yet none feel forced by the "plot armor" so many other stories seem to rely apon.
In short its entertaining, action packed technology driven and yet stil follows the human condition with realism and gives both satisfaction and anticipation that the reader can enjoy.

I know I dont give details but I hate the idea of spoilers and even the smallest detail could do do just that. I highly recommend you find out about the heros and villains of this series for yourself.

The truth with zero spoilers.
