He was more than a bully, he was what living nightmares were made of. It started as a childish game played between two friends, which ended in heartbreak. She knew him once.

A long time ago they may have even called each other friends. That was before she moved away, before her mother married his father, and before an entire life fell apart. She lost friends, popularity, and a future. This was supposed to be a fresh start, but it was real life hell.

Vance Preston used to be a poor boy with a soft smile and kind eyes. He used to be her friend. Now he’s God’s gift to women (his words not hers), disgustingly handsome, and filthy rich. He can do whatever he wants, say whatever he wants, and hurt whomever he wants. No one can stop him, and no one dares to. He might as well be god. He dares her to defy him and fight back. He promises he won’t stop until he hurts her.

But she’s not afraid, because you can’t break something that’s already broken.

This one was a best friend to enemy to lovers type of story and what happens when a lie comes between them. I guess the one thing I would say that prevents me from giving it 5 stars across is that the storyline is really close to book 1 The Bet, it makes you feel almost as if you've read the same story but with different characters, the enemies to lovers is slightly different but still based on an assumption where the guy bullies the girl until they learn the truth. Teddy Hamilton and Ava Lucas provide such awesome narration.

Almost Perfect

This book was so good. I hate books about bullying. But this stuff was written beautifully and I can’t wait to read Clark’s story.

Love this book so much!

I liked Vance and Ava’s story so much better than Remington and Jule’s story. Vance’s hatred for Ava made much more sense and it was easier to understand why he hated her. It is gut-wrenching when the lies and deceits come out. You tend to hurt for both of them as they were the innocent ones in all this. The villain is surprising, but at the same time you almost can guess who is at fault.

I really liked Vance’s best friend, Clarke, and I am excited he gets his own story. He was the humor in such a sad story. We also get to find out how Jule’s dad and brother died in this book, which was my complaint about book one since it was a big part of her story.

Teddy and Ava were perfection bringing these characters to life. The only complaint I would have is that the profanity was overboard. I don’t think you need to use the F word every other sentence and sometimes every other word.

Better Than Book One

If you liked The Bet you will like this too. I love these authors. The narrator’s are awesome as well. I will have all of these books in my library soon!

Soooooo good!

Not too much to say about this one, it was pretty standard for the second chance after a miscommunication trope. There wasn't anything overly exciting, or a big twist, but it was still a satisfying read. I loved seeing previous characters, and can't wait for some of the other books for the side characters.
