Once, he was her dearest friend…but now he’s a brutal, terrifying monster.

In a world of recently warring orcs and men, Ella Riddell is determined to ignore it all. She’s the wealthiest heiress in the realm—and soon, she’s to wed a lord, and become a real lady.

Until the night her engagement-party ends in utter disaster, and Ella runs for the forest—and straight into the powerful arms of a hulking, deadly orc.

And it’s not just any orc. It’s Natt: the orc Ella made a secret, foolish pledge to, many years past. He’s huge and shameless and vicious, not at all the gangly, laughing daredevil Ella remembers.

And he’s here with one shocking, scandalous aim: to wreak vengeance on Ella’s betrothed. With her.

With her hunger. Her surrender. Her undoing...

Ella knows she should run, even if this deadly enemy was once a friend. Even if his scent drags up a dark, forbidden longing. Even if his kisses are the sweetest, filthiest thing she’s ever tasted in her life…

But will Ella truly risk her perfect future, for an orc? Will she face the bitter truths of the past, and brave the terrifying Orc Mountain, before more war rises to destroy them all?

The Heiress and the Orc is a dark, angsty full-length friends-to-lovers fantasy romance. It comes after The Lady and the Orc in the Orc Sworn series, but it can be listened to as a standalone. Happily ever after guaranteed.

This book was pretty good; storyline was interesting; although some of the sex was a bit much. Shane does a great job with narration. Will continue to follow if there is another book added to series.

Interesting Storyline

I’m eager for the next books in this series after completing these first 2 books, but there are some parts that I find off-putting to read. And it’s not the spicy scenes, but rather this theme in both books of these women essentially allowing these orcs to treat them so toxic. I get that the orcs go through immense trauma and it makes sense for them to have toxic behavior because of this, but damn do these women have to be so accommodating and forgiving?

It feels as though these orcs are given free reign to abuse these women and the women are honored for their putting up with it. I guess it was all fine by the end, but I hope there are some FMC’s in future books that give these orcs a right hard time on their journey towards healing.

Intriguing, but difficult at times

I loved the book. My only complaint is that Ella...girl you should have made his ass grovel more!!! That's it.

I adore Finley’s books. She wrote wonderful story lines and spicy scenes. The audio for the book that Shane does is sexy and always attention holding. I sooooo recommend this book and can’t wait for the next one with its audio!!!

Such a fantastic story

Okay. I know this may not be the best review unless you’ve read this or the previous book already. Just a bit of a plot hole. I wish there was some mention of a cleaning crew or janitorial staff that’s on call 24/7. That’s all I need for these books to be perfect. Like maybe Fenn can make small mentions about them bitterly cleaning up a bench they just washed or the laundering crew going on strike again if they keep having to re-wash the same sticky fur blankets every day. Just needed to put it out there because the further along the book goes, the more I imagine they live in a really sticky cave. Or orcs having repeated injuries from slipping.

Other than that, GREAT READ.

Shane West is phonic perfection as usual.

Fenn does it again!
