Catching a husband has never been so complicated.

Matthew Harrison has only one task in life: to marry money. After failing miserably in London, his family takes matters into their own hands by arranging his marriage to the wealthy Lucy Bateman. But when he meets Lucy for the first time, his resolve to save his family from ruin crumbles. Lucy looks to be nothing more than a child, and he cannot fathom going through with the union. Without a thought for the consequences of his actions, he runs away.

Lucy Bateman didn’t like the idea of an arranged marriage, but she agreed to save her sister from suffering the same fate. However, when she played a trick on her groom-to-be by sending her younger sister to meet him in her place, he fled without a word. Now, three years later, Lucy stumbles upon her long-lost fiance working as a cart driver. Fate has given her a second chance and this time there will be no tricks… other than pretending to be someone else entirely in order to convince him to come home and marry her.

This delightful marriage of convenience set in the Regency era was a thoroughly enjoyable read. I found the characters to be remarkably endearing, each with their unique charm and depth. The picturesque countryside setting added to the captivating atmosphere, making me feel as though I was strolling through lush gardens and quaint villages alongside them. The story’s resolution, culminating in a heartwarming happily ever after, left me with a smile and a sense of satisfaction that lingered long after I turned the last page.

Fun Regency

Esther is one of the few authors I come to check up on regularly to see what is new… this book was delightful just like all her other books. I love how silly and fun this story was and how lovely it turned out. I was in need of some humor and this was just what I needed. I can’t wait to get Helena’s and Victoria’s book 😉.

Fun and lovely

I don’t know what to say except I love this book and I’m glad that the author added it to the collection. Lots of laughter and romance you’d expect from this author… with a dash of faith in God woven in. It’s a perfect combination making it a great story to enjoy.
Looking forward to more!
