At one time or another everybody feels misunderstood and or misunderstands another. The idiosyncrasies inherent in language is one of the reasons why there is so much misunderstanding in the world. Osho has a unique proposal – communication through silence. He points out that there is no misunderstanding between animals and or trees or birds, because language does not exist in those realms. So instead of language why not communicate in love, in silence. Only in love and silence, is real communication possible. But we are not in love and we are not silent and that’s why communication is impossible.

These single topic discussions are some of my favorite Osho talks just because of how simple the concepts remain. Osho made it perfectly clear that most people are completely asleep with no awareness thus creating a world where misunderstanding happens more often than not. Language is the greatest barrier to understanding and silence is Osho's greatest advice in regards to maintaining peace in a mad world. A great deal of the time your words will be misunderstood anyways, if you need to understand what someone else said ask them to say it again but maintaining your silence on the matter while utilizing self reflection will make it far easier to avoid disagreements. Then you will understand and the person will not misunderstand you. Silence is golden.

God gave us two ears for listening and one mouth for speaking. Silence is golden.
