The sun may shine brightly and the birds sing nearby. The clouds are not many when the Summer doesn't cry. The grass, so green when Spring rolled around. One, two, I feel so blue. Three, four, I am seen no more. Fix, six, who's playing tricks? Seven, eight, what's my fate? Nine, ten, I'm afraid again. In November 2023 I was committed to the psychiatric ward of a local hospital. I was sick, both mentally and physically, overwrought with unfamiliar emotions and suffering rapid thinking the likes of which I'd never known before. My thoughts were not my own. When you're feeling down and there's nobody around, listen for a sound. A little toot will make you scoot and to this there's no refute! It's the sound of a fart! Coming from below you will know when someone is about to blow. Then crack a smile and run a while, that stench will make you laugh for miles and miles! Fate is not without friends. Sitting alone on a sunny day Bunson Bear is to find this out. The intrusion of a temporal tinkerer is not an unwelcome one to the eight-year-old bear. Anxiety is something I live with daily, as is depression. There are times when getting out of bed to face the day is a monumental achievement. Through the efforts of my psychiatrist and therapist I am able to face the day and all that comes along with the day's events. Yet, there's more. Far more. I suffer through the anxiety and depression and feel I must record my thoughts, that perhaps others will find out that they are not alone. Overcoming the catastrophic effects of anxiety and depression can be difficult. Sometimes, impossible. Yet to survive not by the day but by the minute is a shield that keeps anxious thoughts at bay. For only in the moment does anxiety exist. Only in the here and now does depression drag the soul along for life's lonely ride. Sometimes one finds oneself in a place they've never seen before. In one instance, mine, it was a place I'd never even contemplated as existing. It's a beautiful summer day in Waterford. The sun is shining in all of its glory. The clouds travel slowly along an unseen highway in the sky. The birds follow, singing their pretty song. Yet, as lovely as the day is events under the clouds have cast a dark shadow across Silver Lake. One of its own has passed away.
