The United Nations is thrown into chaos when an alien spacecraft is discovered buried beneath the ice in Antarctica. With no one nation able to lay claim to the craft, a multinational effort is undertaken to salvage the vessel, which is estimated to have crashed several hundred thousand years ago. Rather than leaving key decisions to hostile governments or their armies, a jury is established to represent the average global citizen, being selected from the five permanent members of the UN Security Council. Their job is to review findings and guide the process of discovery.

Fantastic view of first contact

This was a fantastic book about how one possible scenario of first contact could work out. This main character is one interesting character indeed

Standard Sci-Fi

This is a fine listen. It’s nothing groundbreaking or fresh really, but it’s a fine story. Narration is solid. The ending, like most contact stories, leaves a bit to be desired imo. But it’s a decent first contact novel and better than some.

Almost believable

Not too bad! An OK story and a few weird events. Overall a good read.

Disappointing second half

If you have read the synopsis the "Juror" for humanity sounds interesting and the story starts off really strong but just about halfway or a little before the story just goes sideways. Without giving away any spoilers the sideways I'm talking about begins when our characters arrive at a particular location and someone mentions a nuclear weapon, that's all I will say on that so not to spoil it for you.

It's disappointing because it started so well with a very interesting concept but it just fell apart however its not all bad and you might like it more than I did.

Just OK

Story line is great but many scenes are described in too much detail and some scenes aren't needed at all for the overall narrative.
