Once an S-Rank hunter, Kain is reborn at the start of the apocalypse... as an F-Rank.
With the System's arrival 100 years ago, Earth was transformed into a deadly progression realm. Countless wars were waged, millions of lives were lost, and chaos descended. By the time Kain was born, humanity had lost. The monsters had triumphed.
All Kain ever knew was the colony and his role as a hunter within it. Its histories, its goals, its sustenance. This was all that mattered. Until one day, on a mission far beyond the colony walls, searching for other humans, Kain died.
But death, it seems, was not the end.
Reborn at the exact moment of the Integration 100 years prior, before all the war and destruction, Kain is given a second chance. With a previously believed-to-be-extinct Dao and a mysterious title, he needs to figure out the secrets of the future.
With the return of an S-Rank Hunter, maybe humanity will have a chance this time.

Dude who comes back from future, decides he needs to keep it secret for some reason-> proceeds to be the most unsubtle dopsh*t on the planet by acting like he knows more than he should and constantly doling out knowledge he shouldn't have.
regressed physically, won't stop talking about how he's weaker.
won't stop talking in general. his constant, and pointless internal monologues nuke the pacing and make listening a slog.
none of his decisions make sense strategically. Says he's hearing up to find a swarm of insects that dominated in the future, chooses an ability that lets him take out priority targets instead of the ability that would give him staying power??? immediately is forced to fight 3 insects at once, almost dies from running out of energy. no mention. no introspection.
it just feels like there's little thought in general that's gone into all aspects of this book, and I'm only a few hours in.
no thanks. I'm checking out.
btw, there's nothing more cringe and pathetic in a character for them to admit they're putting on a 'tough facade' and acting stoic as a front.
