To survive as an alien tyrant's husband, he'll need to grab his new life by the horns.

A late shift watching an empty cell in a middle-of-nowhere facility? Sign Grant up. If the money's good, he'll gladly take the peace and quiet of a long, boring night.

And then he meets the prisoner: Subject B-31. Blue, beautiful, and inhuman.

He's told to think of her as a test subject, not a person. He's told to ignore the sorrow on her face and the desperation in her crimson eyes. Maybe he should have listened. Because his rescue attempt quickly turns into an alien abduction.

B-31 is Sykora, a princess of the tyrannical Taiikari Empire, who whisks Grant into a galaxy filled with alien cultures, deadly rivals, and the sinister smiles of the Taiikari royal court. Grant will have to learn a new life, and learn it fast.

Because when the Princess of the Void looks at Grant, she doesn't just see a savior—she sees a husband.

And she isn't asking.

What to expect a long-developing mono romance taking place within an amoral (but not cartoonishly evil) galactic empire; royal intrigue within a large, colorful cast of aliens; moral ambiguity and some tricky questions without clear answers; a strong-willed, ethical protagonist who starts as an everyman way over his head and gradually accepts his powerful new position.

Happy to find this gem after wading through so much generic harem slop. The narration is also as good as it gets imo. Highly recommended.

A welcome entry in Men’s mono romance

A standout in the genre and one of the best audiobook performances I’ve experienced in a long while.

Outstanding

this book is so far the closest thing I've experienced to a romance for men. the setting of it taking place in an alien empire that is strictly matriarchal is an enginous way to flip gender roles on their head without simply making the men act like women and vice versa. the differences between the two genders arent simply inverted. as a romance story, I love that it unapologetically has a grovel scene, a staple in romance aimed at women. it's a great time, and I'm glad it finally got a proper audio book release.

one of the very best in the genre

I loved the dynamics between Grant and Batty. The give and take, the development of their relationship, the passion they have for each other. Worth a listen then another and another.

Excellent Mono-romance!

I like the development of the voice of the characters. I was worried the story was going to be the entirety of the earth segment, but I’m happy we actually got to see space politics, back stabbing, some world building. Wouldn’t mind more

Took a shot and didn’t regret it
